COMMUNITY CARPENTER PROJECT

We participate with the Ellwood City community every year to work on various carpentry related projects.

For 2024 The Carpenter’s Project is now accepting requests from homeowners.  Those requesting assistance are eligible if they own the home they want repaired and are living in it.  Applicants must live in the Ellwood City or Riverside School Districts.  Projects include painting, small exterior maintenance, repair, carpentry jobs, power washing, shrub trimming, wheelchair ramp building, etc.  We cannot accept really big requests.  Priority is given to those who have not been helped in the past five years unless a safety issue is involved.  There are no financial requirements.  Donations are not required, but donations help us to help additional people.  Homeowners may call and leave a message with Steven Miller at 724-201-0295. Have you thought about volunteering with The Carpenter’s Project during the July 8th to 12th work week?  You can volunteer one day up to all five days.  Volunteer forms and clearances are due June 13th.  This information is available from the church secretary, or you may contact Steven Miller at 724-201-0295. If you have questions, please check with Donna or Jeff Syphrit.

CAR SHOW

The church has an Annual Car Cruise in late summer. It’s a great day to invite your family and friends to join us for a day of awesome worship, great fellowship, beautiful collection of antique and classic cars, and delicious food like fresh-cut fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, pie, etc.

Our silent auction is also held that day with items donated by local businesses and individuals. The car cruise is one of our favorite events to spend together with the community and our church family.

https://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child

President and founder of Samaritan’s Purse, Rev. Franklin Graham, started this ministry of giving children a shoebox filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items in 1993.  Samaritan’s Purse has distributed over 188 million shoebox gifts to children around the world, in over 100 different countries.

The First Church of God started to fill and give shoeboxes and financial support to “The Operation Christmas Child” twenty three years ago.

Sixteen years ago, Rev. Franklin Graham and his team started “The Greatest Journey”.  This is a 12 lesson discipleship program offered to millions of shoebox recipients each year and is raising up a new generation of evangelists all over the world.  Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ”.

We pack and send an average one hundred shoeboxes and give financially to support the shipping and handling.

We continue to pray for this ministry and for all the children that receive these shoeboxes.

We thank the Lord for how He is continuing to work in children’s hearts through Operation Christmas Child.

PASSION PLAYPassion Play

The First Church of God "Passion Play" is a dramatic musical presentation of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We share this production so that all will have an understanding of the saving grace available for the forgiveness of sins and that life with Jesus as Lord is exciting and fulfilling.

It is a labor of love that brings the story of salvation to the community and draws our congregation closer as we practice together for several months.  Our first presentation of the "Passion Play"  was given in 1986.  The "Passion Play" is normally presented every other year, with the next one to be determined.  There are  evening and afternoon presentations during the Easter season.  Free tickets are available by contacting the church office.  A free will offering is collected after each performance.  We encourage you to bring your family and friends to experience the true meaning of Easter.
